Acocollona't
Acocollona't is an annual horror and fantasy film festival in Girona. It began in 2011.[1] The name Acocollona't comes from the word cocollona, which is a mythical half-crocodile half-butterfly creature that lives in the Onyar river.
The festival is organised by a small group of horror enthusiasts:[2]
- Paco Cavero (@pacocavero)
- Filmmaker David “Callahan” Ruiz (http://www.callahanruiz.com)
- Jordi Martínez (https://www.instagram.com/j.art_inez)
"It started with three geeks who wanted to do something different in the horror-fantasy genre. We didn't have any money, and we actually started by losing money. It started like that. But I suppose because of our love for horror-fantasy films, we kept going, and we kept losing money. But finally we got hekp from public funds, but when we started we had nothing. But it went well, the first years went really well." - Paco Cavero https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1Fx1vWz9Gh/
In 2025, David expressed feeling tired of organizing the festival every year.

Acocoexprés[edit]
Acocoexprés is a short film competition within Acocollona't. Participants have 24 hours to make a short horror or fantasy-themed film. First prize is €500 and second prize is €300. To enter, you have to send an email to acocollonat@gmail.com with the subject "INSCRIPCIÓ ACOCOEXPRÉS" with your name, address and phone number. To prevent teams from starting filming before the day of the competition, on the morning of the competition, the organizers will send each team an object, song and/or phrase that has to be in the film. You then have until the next day to send the organizers your finished film. However, some winning films include the required object/phrase only briefly (a second or two) rather than weaving it into the story, making it easy to cheat.
