Banking and payment systems
From Guide to Girona
In Spain, banks hate you. You, personally, the one reading this. Yes, you.
They love your money though.
Banks hate everyone. For example: They close at 2 PM in the afternoon and don’t reopen until the next day.
- Bank accounts aren’t free.
- They will cold call you with offers of a new card or some special deal which is actually just to get more money from you.
- But there are long wait times when you call them, as if to say "we already have your money, so we don't need to talk to you, so fuck you".
- They don't send you a bank statement in the post. You can ask for one, but it costs €5.
- ATMs will charge you if you use an ATM that is not from your bank
