How to get from Girona to Vallter[edit]
- 2 hour drive from Girona (Estimated cost of petrol of the journey there and back: €30–€45)
- Some years there is a TEISA bus that goes from Girona to Vallter. It leaves Girona at 7 AM, makes stops at Banyoles, Olot, and Camprodon, and then arrives at Vallter at 9 AM.[5] You spend around 7 hours at the report, and leave Vallter at 6 PM. Price is €50 return including a ski pass or €25.50 return without the ski pass.[5] The bus runs on weekends and requires a minimum number of passengers. It is best to call in advance to confirm. If there is not enough snow at Vallter, the bus won't run. In the winter of 2024/25 for example, the bus between Girona and Vallter didn't run because there was a lack of snow. [6] See https://www.teisa-bus.com/es/esqui-bus.
Masella[edit]

Vall de Nuria[edit]
Vall de Nuria is likely the most beginner friendly ski resort.[18]

First you have to get to Vilallonga. Then from Vilallonga, the only way to get to Vall de Nuria is either walking or by the tren cremallera (tram). There is no road access to Vall de Nuria.[19]

Rentals[edit]
At ski resorts, you can usually rent skis, snowboards, helmets, and boots.
Clothing rental (jackets, trousers) is sometimes available but not guaranteed. You can go to Decathlon to buy basic ski clothes, or buy second-hand on Wallapop.
It can better to rent gear in Girona, and then take it to the resort. This way, you don't have to wait in queues at at the resort.[20] You can rent skis, sticks, and a helmet for €20 at Intersport Akilia. Carrer Figuerola, 48, Carrer del Riu Güell, 14, 17001 Girona.
Tips[edit]
- When it rains in Girona, it means it's snowing in the ski resorts, so a good time to go
- Check the apps of the resorts on day before the trip to confirm snow
- Roads are usually so well cleared there's usually no need for snow chains. If you do want them, you buy can snow wheel covers and chains at Feu Vert next to Espai Girones. They cost about 50 euros. If your vehicle is front-wheel drive, you only need chains on the front wheels. If it's rear-wheel drive, you only need chains on the back. You can also buy snow chains at pretty much any petrol station around the mountains.[21]
