From Guide to Girona
Contract[edit]
(All this is too detailed to go in the article)
The contract between Girona City Council and FCC Medio Ambiente include:[1]
- A 100% eco-friendly fleet (electric or compressed natural gas) using renewable energy.
- Expansion of the “Girona Model” smart container system to 70% of the city, with electronic locks and sensors, and weighing all waste upon collection.
- A mix of door-to-door, smart container, and mobile collection models, including services for the Barri Vell (Old Town).
- Street cleaning for 375 km of roads, increased cleaning zones, and 7-day service in busy areas.
- Enhanced recycling services, including more mobile centres, weighing systems, and environmental educators.
- Use of the VISION platform for real-time service monitoring and resident interaction.
The joint venture is called Sanejament Girona, and it is led by FCC Medio Ambiente. That means FCC Medio Ambiente is the main company in charge, but it has teamed up with at least one other company to jointly deliver the services required under the €153 million contract.[1]
