Kaotik World[edit]

Probably the most fun attraction nearby for children is Kaotik World (formerly Salting Girona), a trampoline park in Salt, just outside of Girona. The price is €12 for one hour of trampolining, and €14 at peak times.

Minimum age is 2 years.[1] Children who are 6 years old and younger have to be accompanied by an adult.[2]

Cal Mico[edit]

Cal Mico is a climbing center near El Corte Inglés. It is mainly for adults, but there is also a child-friendly play corner with climbing walls, a slide, a tunnel, and a tower. Parents can climb as well, or watch from the café area. Children can also use the auto-belay top rope section by themselves (a harness and helmet are required, which can be rented from the reception desk). Entry to Cal Mico is €12 and shoe rental is €2. Girobowling[edit]

Girobowling is a bowling alley near Espai Gironès in Salt. They also have pool tables and arcade machines.

Monday to Thurday is quiet, and Friday to Saturday is busy (especially around 7 PM).[3]

  • Centre Civic Barri Vell is a community centre with a room with children's toys and books on the first floor. Anyone can walk in and use it. There is a plan to turn it into a communal reading area, so use it while you still can. Carrer de la Cort Reial, 7, 17004 Girona

Cafes and fast food restaurants in Girona with play areas[edit]

  • La Font del Gat is a large cafe in Montilivi[4] with a small, free indoor soft play area. It includes a tiny football area with two goals, but no ball, so bring a small ball if your kids like playing football. There's also a small public playground right outside. Avinguda de Lluís Pericot, 12.
  • OhKey Cafe is a cafe with a small indoor play area with toys and books. Carrer Emili Grahit, 2.

  • Burger King at Plaça Salt (big roundabout between Girona and Salt) also has a free indoor play area. Plaça Salt, 8.

  • Bye Bye Blat is a gluten-free cafe with a family-friendly area upstairs, with toys for kids to play with. Plaça Salvador Espriu, 7.
  • Cafe del Parc del Migdia is a cafe in Parc del Migdia. There is a public playground next to it. You can sit at the terrace of the cafe and watch your kids playing on the playground.
  • Armonia is a cafe with a free public playground next to its terrace. Carrer Migdia, 28.
  • Corsaro has a wooden playhouse inside it. Carrer de la Creu, 43

Other places for kids in Girona[edit]

  • Girona has several libraries with children's books.
    • Biblioteca Carles Rahola is the biggest library in Girona. There's a room for small children, which has books, toys, and colouring sheets. There is also a big older children's section which has books and board games.

  • Girona has a merry-go-round near Mercat del Lleo. One ride costs €3, or you can buy 15 tickets for €20. Adults can ride with their children for free. A Peruvian man called Viktor works there. He doesn't own the ride, he just works there.
  • Outdoor swimming pool in La Devesa (only open in summer)
  • The swimming pool at O2 Centre Wellness Migdia is free for children (accompanied by a paying adult, one adult entry is about €15) on Saturday mornings (9 AM to 1:30 PM) and Sunday afternoons (2-5 PM). There's different kinds of floats children can use.
  • Girona has two cinemas, and there is also an Odeon at Espai Gironès in Salt. See Cinemas_in_Girona
  • Eureka Kids is a toys shop. They sometimes have toys out that kids can play with (like a wooden train set), so you can go in for ten minutes and let your kid play without spending any money. Carrer de Sant Joan Bta. la Salle, 27
  • Zeppelin is a traditional top shop. Browsing the shop is a fun way to spend 20 minutes
  • La Muralla (the big medieval wall surrounding Girona) can be fun for kids. Bring paper to make paper planes to throw off the top.
  • Go down to the river Onyar and sail paper boats
  • The book shop Abacus sells 12.5 kg packets of natural clay for around €5. The packet is massive, and kids can spend hours making things from clay, which then dries in a couple of days, ready for kids to paint. The only problem is that the clay models break easily if you don't put them in a kiln, and not many people have their own kiln at home.

  • Pixel Cafe is a gaming cafe that opened in 2025. See Cafés in Girona
  • The Museu del Cinema (Cinema Museum) is free every first Sunday of the month, and is aimed at kids as well as adults.
  • Caixa Forum has free exhibitions that sometimes appeal to children
  • Parc del Migdia is a good park for kids to play football or frisbee. It has a big grassy area, two playgrounds, and a cafe. Sometimes there are ducks in the lake that kids can feed.

Activities outside of Girona for children[edit]

Up to 20 minutes from Girona[edit]

  • Centre Cívic La Fàbrica is a community centre inside a converted factory in the nearby town of Celrà. They have a cafe and a play area for small children. To get to Celrà by train, you only need to travel one stop from Girona train station.

  • La Crinera is a nearby horse-riding school. They do riding lessons for kids, as well as pony rides for children under the age of 4.[5] https://www.lacrinera.com Mas Devesa, 17190 Salt, Girona
  • Fundació Mona is a monkey shelter. 20 mins drive from Girona. You need to book in advance. We have heard that it's more on the educational side (lots of talking and explaining, and not so much looking at monkeys), so it might be boring for kids. However there are special visits for children (see https://fundaciomona.org/es/visita-mona/).
  • Granja Mas Bes is a farm where children can see and feed animals. 20-minute drive from Girona. http://masbesdesalitja.blogspot.com
  • Granja Provencal is a dairy farm open to the public. There are cows. Lots of cows.
  • Cal Cigarro is another farm. 15-minute drive from Girona.

  • The mall Espai Gironès in Salt has an indoor children's play area.

Up to 40 minutes from Girona[edit]

  • Bosc de les Escultures de Joan Carolà is a free 1-hour walk through a forest to find strange sculptures. 25-minute drive from Girona.
  • La Selva de l'Aventura is an outdoor climbing park for children. Has things like net pathways, ziplines, and rope slides, all suspended between trees. It's in a forest in the mountains.   • Butterfly Park is a tropical-style zoo near Empúries. They have a 2,000 m² greenhouse with a recreated rainforest containing butterflies, birds, and other exotic animals. Highlights include the world’s largest butterfly (Attacus atlas). The park also serves as a rescue and adoption center for exotic birds that can no longer be cared for by their owners. 40-minute drive from Girona. https://www.butterflypark.es/
  • PP's Park is a fairground in Platja d'Aro. Good for young kids. 40-minute drive from Girona.
  • Sould Park is a fairground in Lloret del Mar. Smaller than PP's Park, and the only rides are for little kids. 40-minute drive from Girona.

  • Parc Aquàtic Aquadiver is a water park.
  • Water World is another water park.
  • Molló Park is an animal park in the Vall de Camprodon (1 hour from Girona)

More than an hour from Girona[edit]

  • Spain's biggest theme park, Port Aventura, is a 2-hour drive from Girona. Has rides for children of all ages (toddlers to teenagers). Also has shows. Also has hotels you can stay the night and do the park the next day. Next to Port Aventura is Ferrari Land which has the world's second-tallest, second-fastest roller coaster (Red Force).
  • Barcelona Zoo is just over an hour from Girona by train. You have to go from Girona to Barcelona Sants and then from Barcelona Sants to Estación de Francia. Opening hours: 10 am to 8 pm. Kids under three enter for free.
  • Naturlandia is an adventure park in a forest in Andorra. It has outdoor activities like the world’s longest alpine toboggan (Tobotronc), rope circuits, zip lines, and hiking. In winter, it has sports like skiing and snowshoeing. A nice destination in the Pyrenees for families and nature lovers. A 3-hour drive from Girona.

Events in Girona for children[edit]

Girona has several annual events for children:

  • Three Kings' Parade (5th January)
  • Carnestoltes (late February or early March)
  • The Black Music Festival in Parc del Migdia often includes free concerts for children (March)
  • Ludivers is an annual games festival in La Devesa (May)
  • Festivalot is a free music festival for children (June)
  • Girocòmic is a comic and manga convention (October). See Girocòmic

  • La Castanyada is the day of chesnuts (31st October)
  • Annual fairground in La Devesa called Les Fires (late October and early November)
  • Indoor ice-skating rink at Fira de Girona (December and January)
  • Lleuresport is a Christmas play area for children in late December and early January. See Christmas in Girona.
  • The Quina infantil is a special quina for children. Held at Centre Civic Sant Narcis a few days before Christmas.

The Girona Agenda website always has an updated list of events happening in Girona. If you filter the list by "Infants i familiars" you can make the website show only events that are for families and children. You can further filter the list by "Activitats gratuïtes" so you only see free activities for children. There are usually at least 1–2 activites a day, such as board game meetups, group book readings for children, and kids' workshops.

SX3 card[edit]

The Carnet SX3 (SX3 card) is a free children's membership card from Super3, the children's part of the Catalan TV channel TV3 (Televisió de Catalunya).

The card is for children aged 0–14 and benefits include:

  • Free entry or discounts to museums, amusement parks, and events
  • Invitations to SX3-related activities and shows

You can apply for the card online on the SX3 website: https://registre-super3.3cat.cat/super3/registre. Once registered, you receive a digital card (and can request a physical one).

Other[edit]

  • Passaport Edunauta is a scheme for children aged 3-12 years. Children receive a "passport", and for each activity they do, they receive a “stamp” or mark in the passport.
